Open Data: A Vlog Series with Bon Moya

iLEAD fellow Richard “Bon” Moya, one of the pioneers of Open Data in the Philippines, shares his insights on open movement and how it has been helping democracies in the world. This is a series of four vlogs that discusses [1] the Open Data initiative, [2] the successes and challenges in its operationalisation in the Philippines, [3] its role in the promotion of civic freedoms, and [4] Open Data amidst the attacks against democracy.

About the author

Richard Moya

His career has spanned the diverse worlds of corporate, public service, academe and entrepreneurship. While currently attempting to manage his own tech startup, he concurrently lectures for the Development Academy of the Philippines (Public Sector Innovation) and the Institute of Corporate Directors (Strategic IT Management) as well as consult for various corporate and public sector firms. He was the former Undersecretary and CIO of the Department of Budget and Management from 2011 until 2016 during the Aquino administration. He was also a former Ford Foundation fellow assigned to assist the Open Government Partnership for the Asia Pacific.
